SEAMP seeks to support the effective integration of
Somali people into main stream Leicester and UK life.
This is our primary endeavour. As a Community Cohesion,
web-based Television Station, SAEMP represents the
positive relationship the Somali community wishes
to build with other Leicester communities.
As well, Building positive
partnerships with communities within Leicester, is
essential to SAEMP, hence the Studios of SAEMP are
located at the African Caribbean Centre, as a show
of solidarity between the two communities. This is
only the first step in reaching out to other communities
both new and established and building positive relationships.
SAEMP is open to all communities in Leicester.
As SEAMP grows and all
our eight broadcast channels come on stream, SAEMP
shall be able to provide space and time for all communities
to produce and air their own programming. This we
are confident, will contribute optimally to community
cohesion.
Furthermore, SAEMP will
be able to link with other Somali communities worldwide
and be able to provide programming with a worldwide
reach. As such, we eventually expect to have the reach
and quality of regular television broadcast stations
like CNN, BBC and other global TV stations. The possibilities,
via the world-wide-web are without limit.
For the Somali community
and our partner communities, we expect to embark on
an empowering mission of limitless information and
programming, promoting mutual understanding, access
and effective information sharing and broadcast in
as many languages as there are within Leicester. As
such, SAEMP will minimise language and information
barriers that currently exist for the Somali and other
communities in Leicester. |
